For many, Mobile Phone contracts can be a costly experience which leave you out of pocket. It comes as no surprise that the team at Voucher Saver are all on inexpensive, low costing contracts with the top network providers. I myself pay £7 a month for 300 minutes, unlimited texts and 1GB of data. Read on to see if we can help you save…
Firstly you need to decide how long you want to keep your phone for and also what model and make. Often people know the model and stumble to find the cheapest contract. Reverse this process, focus on the lowest possible contract then work backwards.
In my example, I own an iPhone 4S. I have had this for over 2 and half years and I have no plans to upgrading. I identified the phone I wanted, checked out how much it would cost to buy the phone outright then forecast my spend over 3 years on a sim only plan.
£500 for the phone, £7 x 36 = £252. Add both together and you have £752 for three years. Sounds a lot but if you compare this with contracts which traditionally look for £45 a month. You have this calculation £1620! You can save just under £1000 over three years if you buy the phone outright and look for the cheapest sim only deals.
Phone companies offer very cheap sim only which usually only have a 1 or 12 month tie in. Companies such as Tesco currently offer such deals.
If you do the workings out, you can see that stumping the initial cash for the phone can save you a lot of money in the long run. The longer you keep your phone, the more you save!
